A Capify business loan and a Liberis merchant cash advance are not interchangeable simply because both provide business funding. Their collection rules, pricing and contract obligations can differ. Capify also describes a merchant cash advance on its broker page, so the first step is to identify exactly which product is being offered.
Build the repayment scenario using our guide, MCA Repayments in a UK Cash-Flow Forecast: 13-Week Guide.
This comparison uses provider pages checked in November 2026. It explains the distinctions to investigate without assuming that every advertised product is available to every applicant or that one provider is universally cheaper.
Identify the actual product and route
Capify's business-loan page describes fixed regular repayments. Its broker page separately describes a merchant cash advance collected as a percentage of daily card payments. Confirm current availability, eligibility and terms for the route used.
Liberis's working-capital page describes a merchant cash advance linked to future revenue and a fixed fee. Its legal wording also includes a minimum monthly amount of up to 3% of the total owed. The actual agreement should explain the calculation and collection process.
Do not take an old product listing, a search result or a broker's shorthand as the full specification. Ask for the product name, contracting entity and written terms before comparing costs.
Three structures to keep distinct
| Structure under discussion | Main cash-flow question |
|---|---|
| Capify business loan with scheduled repayments | Can receipts cover each fixed collection date? |
| Capify merchant cash advance described on its broker page | Which card receipts are included and what conditions accompany the percentage? |
| Liberis merchant cash advance | How do sales-linked collections and any monthly minimum interact? |
The table identifies the questions raised by the provider descriptions. It does not represent a quote or confirm availability for a particular business.
A scheduled payment offers a known calendar, while a sales-linked calculation varies with its defined receipt base. Either can be difficult if the business has insufficient margin after operating costs.
Check eligibility for that product
Capify's current underwriting criteria describe business-loan requirements including 12 months of trading, £10,000 monthly turnover and a personal guarantee. Do not automatically transfer those loan criteria to a separately described merchant advance.
Liberis's product comparison page presents different products and starting criteria. Confirm the relevant UK application route and assessment requirements rather than treating one platform-facing figure as universal eligibility.
Distinguish total revenue, card sales and other eligible receipts. An invoice-led business and a card-heavy retailer may have similar turnover but different suitability for a particular collection arrangement.

Compare all charges, including those outside the headline fee
Capify's published fee page lists several charge categories and carries a February 2023 update date. Obtain the current offer-specific processing, origination and ongoing charges instead of using that dated schedule as a complete quote.
A fixed-fee description from any provider still needs a net-payout and total-payment reconciliation. Ask whether charges are deducted from the advance, added to the repayment balance or collected separately.
If an intermediary is involved, clarify remuneration and any fee payable by the business. Capify's broker page describes a pricing and commission arrangement, making it sensible to ask how the introduction affects the actual offer rather than assuming every route produces identical pricing.
Compare the pricing methods with our guide, MCA Factor Rate vs APR UK: Worked Cost Examples.
Put offers on an equal cash basis
Suppose two hypothetical offers, unrelated to either named provider, each provide £20,000 net. One requires £24,200 total payments and the other £23,600. The difference in cost is £600 before other charges.
That comparison is meaningful only if both figures include the relevant fees and the same usable amount. If one offer withholds £500 from a £20,000 headline advance, it provides only £19,500 for the business purpose.
Adjust the comparison to the amount actually needed. A facility that leaves a supplier bill partly unpaid may require additional cash or a larger drawdown, changing the original cost calculation.
Do not treat a factor rate as APR
A hypothetical factor of 1.2 applied to £20,000 produces £24,000 before separate fees. The £4,000 difference is 20% of the original amount, but it is not automatically a 20% annual percentage rate.
An annualised measure requires the dates and amounts of cash received and collected, including relevant charges. The same total fee collected over a shorter period has a different annualised effect from collection over a longer period.
Ask how early settlement changes the amount payable. Being allowed to make an additional payment does not necessarily mean the full fee reduces in proportion to the time saved.
Test fixed repayments against receipt timing
An illustrative fixed £600 weekly collection requires £2,400 in a four-collection period and £3,000 in a five-collection period. Use the actual contractual dates rather than a rounded monthly average.
If customers pay in large, irregular batches, the business may need cash between those receipts. A fixed schedule can be predictable while still requiring a substantial operating reserve.
Model a delayed invoice, lower sales or temporary interruption. Do not assume the provider automatically changes the repayment amount because the business has a difficult week.
Test percentage collections against margin
An illustrative 10% collection on £30,000 eligible monthly receipts is £3,000. At £18,000, it is £1,800 before any minimum or other contractual condition. These figures are generic examples, not Capify or Liberis pricing.
The cash left must still cover stock, wages, rent, tax, refunds and existing finance. A low-margin business can have strong turnover and limited capacity for a deduction from gross receipts.
Where a minimum applies, model it separately using the correct base and period. Ask what happens if percentage collections do not meet it, and whether a shortfall is collected from another account or through another mechanism.
Confirm collection compatibility
Identify the processor, platform or bank account involved and the sales streams included. Ask how refunds, fees and delayed settlements affect the calculation.
A merchant receiving marketplace payouts may not have the same collection arrangement as a business using its own card terminal. Do not assume a customer paying by card automatically makes the resulting platform payout eligible for every advance.
Review restrictions on changing processor or bank account, selling the business or taking further finance. The collection setup can affect operations as well as cost.
Review guarantees and security
Capify's FAQ says its products require personal guarantees. Read the proposed guarantee to understand who signs, what it covers and the circumstances in which obligations arise.
For a Liberis offer, obtain the exact guarantee and security position rather than assuming it from a product category. The absence of a specific asset charge does not by itself establish the absence of personal obligations.
Ask both providers to explain default provisions and the consequences of material changes in trading. Obtain appropriate independent advice where a significant obligation is unclear.
Distinguish the funding agreement from payment services
Liberis's legal information describes its Business Cash Advance as receivables finance rather than a loan and separates that from its associated payment-services arrangement. Confirm the relevant protections and complaint route for the actual agreement.
Do not assume a business loan, a receivables purchase and a payment account have identical regulatory treatment. Ask for the product-specific position instead of relying on a logo, registration number or broad statement about financial services.
This distinction is part of understanding the contract, not a ranking of provider quality. The decision still needs cost, affordability and operational fit.
Match finance to a justified business need
Identify the purpose, amount and expected cash return. A short supplier-payment gap, seasonal stock purchase and long-lived equipment investment create different timing requirements.
If growth is expected to repay the facility, include fulfilment costs and the delay before customer cash clears. Extra revenue is not the same as extra surplus.
If the business repeatedly borrows to cover normal operating losses, reassess the underlying plan. A different collection method cannot by itself resolve a persistent deficit.
Compare speed and refinancing carefully
Ask whether a quoted turnaround refers to an indication, formal approval, signed documents or cleared funds. Prepare accurate bank and sales records and disclose existing commitments so the timetable reflects the actual application.
Prepare the application records using our guide, Merchant Cash Advance Documents UK.
If new finance settles an old facility, request a breakdown of the settlement, fees and net additional cash. Compare the full future obligation rather than the gross new amount.
A lower weekly payment may come from a longer term, and a top-up may provide less new cash than the approved figure suggests. Update the complete forecast before accepting either.
Common questions about Capify and Liberis
Does Capify only offer a merchant cash advance?
No. Its current site promotes business loans, and its broker page separately describes a merchant advance. Confirm the actual product and route rather than merging their features.
Is Liberis always paid only as a percentage of sales?
Its published merchant-advance information includes a monthly minimum qualification. Read the specific agreement and model any shortfall process.
Which provider is cheaper?
A personalised comparison is required. Use equal net funding, total payments, every fee and the actual collection conditions.
Are unsecured products free of personal risk?
Not necessarily. Check guarantees and other obligations explicitly; unsecured does not automatically mean no personal liability.
Compare contracts with the same cash forecast
Identify the product first, then compare net proceeds, total cost and collections under weaker trading. Choose only an arrangement that meets a justified need while preserving the cash required to operate.
To discuss the requirement, contact Mehmi Financial Group with the purpose, sales channels, current commitments and any written offers.
