Liberis and YouLend both offer merchant funding associated with business sales, but a useful comparison requires the actual product and application route. Neither a brand name nor a headline fixed fee tells you how much cash the business receives, what will be collected during a quiet month or whether the agreement suits the intended use.
Prepare the supporting records using our guide, UK Business Loan Bank Statements: What Underwriters Check.
The public information checked in November 2026 shows differences in advertised funding ranges and important qualifications around payment arrangements. There is no evidence from those pages that either provider is universally cheaper or more suitable. Compare personalised offers on the same cash requirement and forecast.
What their public merchant pages say
Liberis's funding page advertises personalised offers from £1,000 to £1 million, a fixed fee and payments linked to an agreed percentage of sales. It qualifies that arrangement with a monthly minimum of up to 3% of purchased receivables and says shortfalls may be collected by direct debit.
YouLend's UK merchant page advertises access to as much as £2 million, a single fixed fee and automatic sales-percentage payments. Its calculator is an indication rather than a confirmed offer. The actual amount and terms require assessment.
These are provider-published descriptions, not quotes for a particular applicant. A larger advertised maximum does not establish that a business qualifies for more funding or should borrow more.
A comparison of the main decision points
| Question | Liberis | YouLend |
|---|---|---|
| Publicly advertised amount on the reviewed merchant page | £1,000–£1 million | Up to £2 million |
| Pricing described there | Fixed fee | Fixed fee |
| Collection description | Sales percentage, with a stated monthly minimum qualification | Sales percentage on the merchant page; confirm the particular product |
| What must come from the offer | Net payout, total payable, collection terms, guarantees and settlement conditions | Net payout, total payable, collection terms, guarantees and settlement conditions |
The first three rows summarise the linked provider pages. The final row is the information needed to make a commercial comparison. Do not treat an advertised range or simplified website description as the complete contract.
Do not assume every collection arrangement varies with sales
Liberis's published minimum-payment qualification means a quiet month should not be modelled solely by multiplying sales by the headline collection percentage. Obtain the applicable minimum and shortfall mechanism in writing.
YouLend's direct-debit product documentation describes both variable collections based on sales and fixed scheduled collections for certain use cases and geographies. That does not establish which option a specific UK applicant will receive; it demonstrates why the exact product must be identified.
Ask both providers what happens during low sales, temporary closure, processor disruption or a change of sales channel. A general statement about flexibility is not enough to answer those contract questions.
Compare net cash with total payable
Request a written breakdown showing the amount approved, any deductions before disbursement, cash received and total contractual payments. Identify any broker or other charges outside the provider's headline fee.
Consider two entirely hypothetical offers, unrelated to either named provider. Offer A provides £20,000 net and requires £24,000 total collections. Offer B provides £20,000 net and requires £23,000. On those figures alone, B has £1,000 less total funding cost, but collection timing and contractual conditions still need assessment.
If one offer instead deducts a fee from the payout, adjust the comparison so both meet the same usable cash requirement. A smaller headline fee is not necessarily a smaller cost per pound actually received.
A fixed fee is not an annual interest rate
The £4,000 cost in hypothetical Offer A is 20% of the £20,000 received. That arithmetic does not make it a 20% APR. An annualised cost depends on when money is advanced and collected, as well as relevant fees.

Faster collections can shorten the time the business has use of the funds without necessarily reducing a fixed total fee. Ask for the early-settlement calculation rather than assuming paying sooner automatically creates a proportional saving.
Compare the total cost and a realistic collection schedule alongside other suitable facilities. Do not use the absence of an interest label as evidence that finance is free or inexpensive.
Model cash remaining after collections
Suppose an illustrative agreement collects 12% of £30,000 eligible monthly sales. That produces £3,600 of collections before any applicable minimums or other terms. At £20,000 of eligible sales, the same percentage produces £2,400.
These are generic examples, not Liberis or YouLend offers. The remaining receipts still need to cover stock, wages, rent, tax, refunds and existing finance. For a low-margin business, a deduction from turnover can consume a substantial share of available surplus.
Run the same forecast for each actual offer. Where one has a fixed collection schedule, model that schedule directly rather than pretending it flexes with sales. Where minimums apply, include them in the weak-sales scenario.
Check the receipt base and payment route
Identify whether the agreement collects from a card processor, platform settlement, bank account or another arrangement. Ask which revenue streams are included and whether the calculation uses gross sales, net payouts or a different definition.
A business receiving money through several channels needs to reconcile those streams separately. A marketplace customer paying by card does not automatically mean the merchant's funding provider can collect from that transaction in the same way as an in-store terminal sale.
Check what changes are required to settlement accounts or processor instructions, and what restrictions apply later. Avoid assuming an existing provider integration covers every trading channel or legal entity.
Compare timing on equivalent terms
Liberis advertises eligible funding in as little as 24 hours; YouLend's UK page describes possible approval within 24 hours and access to funds in as little as 48 hours after approval. Those are qualified marketing statements, not guaranteed deadlines for every application.
Review the guarantee questions in our guide, Fast Business Loans Without a Personal Guarantee UK.
Ask each provider what checks remain and when cleared funds could be available for the particular business. An initial indication, formal offer and completed payout are different stages.
If a supplier payment is urgent, compare the confirmed timetable rather than ranking providers using the shortest headline number. Documentation, verification and the collection setup can affect the practical outcome.
Understand the financing and payment-services distinction
Liberis's legal information describes its Business Cash Advance as receivables finance rather than a loan and states that Liberis is not FCA-authorised or regulated for that product. It separately explains the payment-services arrangement involving Modulr.
YouLend's regulatory information states that it is authorised as a payment institution, while its UK merchant financing agreements are not FCA-regulated for providing business finance.
Do not interpret payment-services authorisation as approval of the financing offer or as confirmation that consumer-credit protections apply. Read the agreement, complaint route and relevant protections for the actual product and applicant.
Check guarantees and contract obligations
Ask whether there is a personal guarantee, security, minimum payment, maturity date, default trigger or restriction on further borrowing. The information should come from the offer and agreement, not an assumption based on the word unsecured.
Also ask what happens if the business changes processors, sells the business or has a material interruption. If a provision is unclear, obtain an explanation before signing and appropriate independent advice where needed.
A top-up should be assessed as a new funding decision. Compare the new cash received after any settlement of an existing balance with the full future payment obligation. Repeated access does not establish that repeated borrowing remains affordable.
Which offer is the better fit?
An offer may fit better if it meets the actual cash need, has a clear collection method and leaves sufficient cash under a weaker trading forecast. A lower total cost matters, but it should be considered alongside timing and obligations.
Compare cash-flow funding structures in our guide, Cash Flow Loans UK: Compare Short-Term Funding Options.
A provider's public maximum or familiar partner brand should not decide the outcome. If neither offer works after essential operating costs, consider a smaller requirement, a different structure or changes to the cash plan.
Prepare recent bank and sales records, management figures, current finance commitments and the intended use. Keep projected growth separate from established trading and disclose material account restrictions accurately.
Common questions about Liberis and YouLend
Which provider is cheaper?
The reviewed public pages do not establish a universal winner. Compare personalised net proceeds, total costs and collection terms for the same requirement.
Do both always collect only a percentage of sales?
Do not assume that. Liberis publishes a minimum-payment qualification, and YouLend documents more than one collection structure. Check the specific agreement.
Does a fixed fee mean no financing cost?
No. It describes pricing structure. Calculate the pounds paid above net proceeds and assess the actual timing.
Are the advertised funding amounts guaranteed?
No. They are public product descriptions subject to assessment and the applicable route. A calculator or indicative offer is not final approval.
Compare the offers, not only the brands
Use the same cash requirement and downside forecast for both providers. Confirm net funding, total payable, collection conditions and personal obligations before deciding.
