ELD rollout budgeting: a checklist for commercial fleets

Plan an ELD rollout with separate budgets for hardware, installation and recurring services before discussing business financing.

A fleet technology purchase is easier to assess when the quote shows more than a single monthly figure. Before you decide how to pay for an ELD rollout, build a budget that separates the initial purchase from the cost of keeping the system running.

Start with your vehicle list

Record the vehicles you want to equip, their model years and the timing of each installation. Ask TXT to confirm compatibility and identify any required cables, mounting components or setup work. A clear vehicle list gives the supplier a better basis for an accurate quote and helps you avoid comparing packages that cover different work.

Separate equipment from services

TXT describes its ELD hardware as a hardwired mobile terminal connected to the vehicle's engine control module. Ask the supplier to identify which components you would own, rent or receive as part of a service plan. Do not assume a bundled device is an equipment purchase.

Your budget should show device costs, installation, activation, training and recurring charges as separate lines. Confirm taxes, shipping, warranty coverage and replacement arrangements. Where a charge does not apply, have that noted rather than leaving the scope unclear.

Plan the rollout around your operation

Choose a practical installation schedule and allow time for drivers and office staff to learn the system. If you are replacing another provider, review your existing agreement for notice periods and overlapping service charges. Keep a contingency for vehicles that need additional work, without treating that allowance as a supplier quotation.

Review financing against the actual quote

Send Mehmi Financial Group the itemized quote and the amount your business wants to finance. Ask which costs can be included and which you would pay separately. Compare the proposed payment schedule, fees and total amount payable before accepting an offer. A calculator result is an estimate, not an approval or a confirmed rate.
