Equipment Financing & Leasing in North America
Automotive Lift Financing and Leasing
Explore Automotive Lift financing and leasing for vehicle-service businesses purchasing workshop equipment. Plan the equipment package, installation budget and ownership approach before committing. Mehmi Financial Group reviews new and used equipment requests in Canada and eligible U.S. markets, subject to the asset, seller, business, location and lender requirements.
What belongs in the equipment quote?
Identify the exact two-post, four-post, scissor or mobile-column lift configuration being purchased, together with its power unit, manufacturer-approved accessories and installation. State the vehicle types and service tasks the proposed lift will support. These configurations should not be treated as interchangeable purchases.
Check suitability, condition and installation
Have the qualified supplier assess the actual service bay, vehicle requirements, clearances, floor or anchoring requirements and utilities. Agree on installation, testing and staff training responsibilities. The Automotive Lift Institute’s buying guide explains the importance of matching the lift to the vehicles and checking the exact model and approved accessories.
For a used lift, request the model and serial identification, service and inspection records, supplied manuals and a complete accessory inventory. Ask a qualified inspector or installer to identify missing parts, repairs and whether the proposed relocation and installation are suitable. A serviceable power unit alone does not establish the condition of the complete lift.
Budget for the complete acquisition
Include freight, installation, any required professionally assessed floor or electrical work, accessories, training and inspection costs. Replacement planning should account for service-bay capacity lost during the changeover. Equipment financing does not establish that a lift or installation meets the requirements applicable to the site.
BDC recommends budgeting acquisition extras such as delivery, installation and training alongside the equipment price. See BDC equipment financing guidance.
Compare the financing structure
A purchase loan and an equipment lease create different ownership and end-of-term obligations. Compare cash required upfront, all payments and fees, any final amount, early-exit terms and responsibility for maintenance. A lease does not automatically include a free upgrade or ownership transfer.
Use the equipment financing calculator for payment illustrations, then request a written proposal. Match the commitment to the period the equipment should remain useful and supported.

Automotive Lift equipment financing market context
Quick answer: Automotive Lift financing is generally reviewed using the purchase price, production role, configuration, age and condition, seller, expected useful life, business cash flow, credit profile and requested term. New and used equipment may be considered, but final structure depends on the asset, transaction, lender and jurisdiction.
In ELFA’s 2025 Survey of Equipment Finance Activity, industrial/manufacturing machine tools represented 1.9% of 2024 annual new business volume by equipment type among respondents, while production and process-control equipment represented another 1.4%. See the ELFA Survey of Equipment Finance Activity for the underlying U.S. industry data.
ELFA’s July 2026 CapEx Finance Index reported $14.3 billion in seasonally adjusted new business volume among surveyed member companies, with year-to-date volume 16.8% above the same period in 2025. In Canada, Statistics Canada reported 2026 machinery and equipment capital-spending intentions of about C$127.2 billion. Questions about Automotive Lift financing
Can installation and accessories be considered together?
Provide an itemized project quote. Identify durable accessories separately from recurring subscriptions, consumables and general shop renovations.
What should I confirm about a used vehicle lift?
Verify the exact lift model, supplied accessories, condition and available service support. Obtain a qualified assessment of the complete lift and proposed installation. Include repair, relocation and missing-part costs before comparing the purchase price with a new unit.
What should the equipment finance file contain?
Send the seller’s itemized quotation, exact models and configuration, condition or service evidence, location and delivery plan. Explain the business use and provide the financial documents requested for the lender’s review; the asset’s useful life and support also matter.
How should claims about lift certification be checked before purchase?
Ask the supplier to identify the precise model and the accessories supplied. The Automotive Lift Institute advises buyers to check its certified-lift directory and rejects claims of partial or pending certification. Do not assume that one certified product establishes the status of every lift sold by the same brand. Confirm the requirements for the actual Canadian or U.S. installation with the appropriate qualified parties. A finance approval is not a certification, inspection result or authorization to use the lift.
Will adding another lift automatically create another productive service bay?
Check whether the shop also has space, qualified staff, tools and sufficient booked work to use the additional bay. Estimate the contribution from extra completed repair orders after technician time and other job costs, rather than multiplying the posted labour rate by all opening hours. Include installation downtime and any changes needed for the vehicles you expect to service. A specialized alignment purchase should also identify its alignment equipment separately. Do not count the same new repair order twice when assessing multiple assets.
What should happen if the shop may move before the lift financing ends?
Ask a qualified provider to estimate removal, transport, reinstallation and assessment at a future location. Check the equipment agreement for relocation conditions and the premises agreement for restoration responsibilities. Establish whether the lift’s existing configuration is appropriate for the next shop rather than assuming it can be moved without additional cost. Send Mehmi the lift quote and premises plan for review. Partner lenders determine eligibility in Canada and eligible U.S. markets; future moving costs are not automatically included in the original equipment approval.
