What is a Loan Agreement?

The contract that sets out the loan amount, rate, term, and borrower obligations.

For example, before releasing $350,000 to a commercial borrower, the lender requires the owner to sign a loan agreement that specifies the interest rate of 7.25%, a 5-year repayment term, the collateral pledged, and the events that would constitute a default.
