What are Logistics?

As one component of supply chain management, logistics is the process of coordinating and managing the flow of material goods as they make their way from production to the point of consumption and, in some cases, back again.

For example, an online retailer manages its logistics by coordinating warehousing in Calgary, using a third-party trucking company for last-mile delivery, and integrating shipping software that automatically generates labels and sends customers real-time tracking updates from order to delivery.
