What is a Risk Rating?

A lender’s internal score or category that summarizes credit risk.

For example, a lender assigns a risk rating of 3 out of 7 (low-moderate risk) to a well-established trucking company with strong financials and 15 years of operating history. This rating influences the interest rate offered, loan-to-value limits, and whether a personal guarantee is required.
