What is a Secured Loan?

A loan backed by collateral. If the borrower defaults, the lender can enforce its security and recover funds from the collateral.

For example, a business borrows $150,000 to buy equipment, and the equipment is used as collateral for the secured loan.

Why it matters: By offering collateral, businesses can access significantly larger loan amounts and lower interest rates than unsecured borrowing.
