What is Distributed To Paid-In Capital (Dpi)?

Distributed to paid-in capital (DPI) is the ratio of money distributed to limited partners relative to contributions in a venture capital fund.

For example, a venture capital fund has received $10 million in capital from its limited partners and has so far returned $8 million in distributions from portfolio exits, giving it a DPI of 0.80 — meaning investors have received back 80 cents for every dollar invested so far.
